Come on ladies. We have to realize that our bodies are our temples. We need to make sure we keep them as fit and healthy as possible. We need to practice proper diet, exercise and healthy thinking.

One of my sisters was severely overweight for awhile and her husband left her. After putting on more weight out of depression, she finally met up with this group of ladies who were all getting fit and she's been a new woman ever since that day.

If you don't have the ability to go get it on your own, then by all means, find a group to hold you accountable and help keep you motivated. Don't do it for anyone else. Do it for yourself. You owe you that much.

There are funds out there to help women who want to start a business, normally in the area of partial loan forgiveness. What does that mean? It means that you will have to qualify for a loan and secure it for you to even see the benefits of those funds.

Grants for businesses are rare and small. Does the government have programs they don't tell everybody about? Sure they do. What about that book that promises money for all kinds of businesses? The majority of it is partial loan forgiveness or loans with matching or partially matching grants, which again does no good for those who are not able to qualify for a loan.

Politically Incorrect - My Take on Black Culture

In an era where everything has to be politically correct, it's easy to put your foot in your mouth. Well, this may offend some people but it needs to be said.

First of all, if I were black and knew all the terrible history of what has happened in this country, I would strive to make the best out of all opportunities presented to me. I wouldn't sag my pants and show my underwear and my butt. I wouldn't seek to fit in with gangs and sell drugs to my own people, thus enslaving them again.

Black people are still slaves in many places but the only people holding them there is their own kind. We all stereotype in some way and when you play into that type, you aren't helping matters for other black people who sincerely want to be successful. Rappers aren't successful. They are only rich and popular. Successful comes from the impact you make in your community and around the world. I hope this message doesn't sound funny coming from a white woman, but someone needs to say something.

My parents fought for the equality of blacks and now my mom is embarrassed by that because the fruit is still not there. What happened to the strong black pride that existed when I was a child? I loved the culture of black people then. Now, it's embarrassing to be affiliated with the music and video images, the clothing and the language. And the funny thing is, there are MORE black geniuses than there are white ones, but they are all stuck in this bondage of being black as they can be instead of being all the human they can be.

I love all people and I don't care if I stepped on toes. Let's get it together.

YOU are the Calvary

Don't live the low life and expect someone to save you. Newsflash, honey- YOU are the calvary. Get up and dust yourself off when you fall and try again. If it just doesn't work, then try something else because as sure as you give up, someone else will never see the light of day. We are all leading someone else somewhere. You better know where you're going and how to get there. You better use your inner strength to find a way through the difficulties. That is called high powered living.

Don't Take A Shortcut

I now have a corner office on the eighth floor and every day I get there, I look out over the city and still can't believe I made it this far. Coming from someone who knows the struggle for women all too well, I can definitely tell you that God requires us to commit ourselves to excellence even when everyone else around us is taking short cuts. Don't take the short cut because you may miss something that will help you stay "there" when you get "there" and then it'll have all been for nothing.

I love my Amazon Kindle. I've not had it long, but I've already purchased and read 24 books through the program. It makes things so much easier for someone as busy as I am.

The hormonal excuse finally helped me get out of a ticket. I was stopped by a lady cop and instead of writing me a ticket, she gave me a warning. I was already in tears. She took pity. It also helped that she recognized me from my last speaking engagement when I talked about the hormonal excuse many women use to postpone their dreams. Whew! God is great!

Consulting Work

Today, I met with a young lady who has been trying to start a food delivery service that serves major restaurants and allow them to offer delivery services. After being told it would never work, she and I have ironed out the kinks in her business plan and we are going forward.

I love my work as a consultant, especially when someone else says something is impossible and then it turns out to be the best idea ever. Stay tuned for updates.

My Mentor, Lacresha Hayes, Is Ill

I just heard that my mentor, Lacresha Hayes, has been hospitalized for several illnesses. This woman has been such an inspiration to me. She is the reason why I gave my life to Christ. I'm asking everyone to please pray for her in this difficult time. Surely, she won't die when she has so much more life to give.

There are some things people do that makes you want to ask them, "Are you serious right now?"

Yesterday, a young lady I've been mentoring to start her own business told me that she had basically wasted four months of my time because she is afraid to lose money on a failing business. ARE YOU SERIOUS?!!!

I mean, the business hasn't even began and she's already talking about how it's going to fail. My advice to her: "You are absolutely right. It's going to fail because the owner doesn't even believe in it."

What was the business idea? Providing secretarial support to local businesses from home. Competition in her area? NO ONE! Money needed to get her started? $1000

A total waste of talent and time.

I try not to pig out on junk food and cakes and the like, but my mother's party was a junk food only party this year for some god-forsaken reason. There were 3 sock it to me cakes. I finished off one by myself. Today, I can feel the blubber all over my body. Ugh! I guess I see why they say it is a SOCK IT TO ME cake.
